Murray Elementary School, (Murray, KY). Murray Elementary School’s teachers, staff, and administrators believe the key to student success is building relationships with families. For incoming kindergarten families, Murray Elementary starts the relationship building with children and families in November the year before children enter kindergarten. Murray sponsors a Future Tiger Night, where families come to experience the school, meet all the teachers, and learn how they can help their children get ready for kindergarten. Families then participate in kindergarten registration in February. At that time, children and their families spend time in kindergarten classes and have meaningful conversations with teachers and staff. Kindergarten students come and experience kindergarten for one hour visits in March and April. Before school starts in August, the school sponsors Kindergarten and New Family Orientations. These meetings provide families opportunities to hear details and ask questions about the school. Murray’s PTO also hosts a Kindergarten Family Social to help children and families meet each other. Relationships make the difference at Murray Elementary School.
