The National Blue Ribbon School name and logo are service marks of the U.S. Department of Education and there are some rules about their use. Make sure your school uses the correct name and logo when celebrating your success!

By using the correct NBRS program name and the official logo when promoting your school’s achievement, you are maintaining the integrity and prestige of the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools program brand.

Only schools that receive the NBRS award are granted permission to use the program name and logo.

National Blue Ribbon Schools (NBRS) is the official program name of the U.S. Department of Education that recognizes outstanding schools.

There are similarly named programs that are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education. There are also many incorrect logos found on the internet and example statements with incorrect naming conventions. Use this page to check your work!

Please be aware that the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools program is not associated with the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Program, which is sponsored by a non-profit organization in South Carolina. Schools may be contacted by the South Carolina organization to participate in conferences and may be confused by the similar name.
