2009 Awards Ceremony

Principals and teachers from 321 schools attended the Washington, DC 2009 Awards Ceremony. Attendees had opportunities to learn from one another, both informally through peer networking and more formally through and school team presentations of best practices. Ceremony meals and events were sponsored by The History Channel and SMART Technologies and included a “Washington by Night” bus tour and a gala reception. The 2009 ceremony featured speeches by the Teacher of the Year and past National Blue Ribbon School principals, a rousing address by the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and culminated in the presentation of the National Blue Ribbon Schools awards by Aba Kumi, Director, National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, Office of Communications and Outreach.
