Devers Independent School District is the heartbeat of a very small, unique community with a population of about 500. It is located 25 miles west of Beaumont and 60 miles east of Houston on Highway 90.
There are several factors that make Devers ISD a great place for kids to go to school and learn. In making decisions, we initially consider what's best for our kids. There are high expectations and accountability for everyone, students and staff. Providing a solid academic foundation is a priority for our district. A good, quality education is a priority for our parents. With the district and parents working together, we are able to accomplish great things.
Our teachers average 16 years of teaching experience. The class sizes of 22 or fewer students enables the teachers to better address students' academic, social, and emotional needs. The class size also provides the opportunity for teachers and students to build lasting relationships. These relationships are key to the overall success of our students.
In 2019, Devers ISD introduced a 4-day school week supported by parents, staff, students, and approved by the school board. We have seen benefits academically, better attendance for students and staff, growth of our student population, and financial savings for the district. In one word, the move to a 4-day school week has been phenomenal! According to Schooldigger.com, in 2021 Devers ISD was the 5th ranked School District in the State of Texas.
