Smyer Independent School District is a preK-12 single campus school located on the South Plains of Texas in Hockley County. The school is a beacon to the community, and we are proud to share our many accomplishments, accolades, and yearly events with the public.
The mission of SISD is to promote a higher level of education, while preparing our students to become exemplary functioning members of society. By instilling strong work ethic practices into our daily instruction, our students are able and willing to face their career choices with integrity, honor, and conviction. Smyer students go out into the world ready and capable to handle the rigors of life while achieving success in their endeavors.
As a school with a small student body, the majority of our students are involved in many extracurricular activities that range across academics, fine arts, athletics, and agricultural competitions. Students from elementary to secondary participate each year in area and statewide competitions. Success in these competitions is possible from the hard work and tremendous dedication from faculty and staff, parents, and the community who share their knowledge and experience through mentoring and support.
We strongly believe that our student body can be successful every day. The campus wide promotion of our motto "Pursue Greatness" is integrated into all forms of educational instruction. Our goal is to instill in our students the desire to compete with integrity, love all, and believe in themselves and others.
