Founded in 1903, the heritage of our district began in a one-room house and a dug-out on neighboring ranch land. Although the school system has grown, our traditions and expectations remain the same today. Vega Elementary School (VES) holds high standards for instruction, behavior and commitment to excellence in education.

As students enter the halls of VES, they are welcomed, respected, and nurtured every day. VES staff are highly qualified professionals dedicated to the learning styles of their students to foster academic, emotional, social, and individual success for each child. While a great deal of focus is on quality curriculum and instruction, we also recognize we are working with children that need time to play, explore and create. It is with this belief that we purposely schedule many opportunities for fine arts instruction, performances, field trips, social play, and traditions that foster Longhorn Pride.

Teachers are dedicated to their students' education and learning growth and spend countless hours pouring into their students' lives outside of the classroom through student activities beyond the walls of VES. The Vega Elementary staff's focus on partnerships with families and community members truly gives our students a safe place to learn, and a school family that supports them.

Our ultimate goal is for our students to experience the strong traditions of success in our rural Texas Panhandle school and pay them forward in their relationships, careers, and lives as they chase their dreams. VES students will forever be a member of our Longhorn family.
