Lookout Mountain Elementary School

Lookout Mountain Elementary School is located in Lookout Mountain, TN, a suburb of Chattanooga, TN. Lookout Mountain Elementary School was established in 1878 to serve the community of Lookout Mountain, TN. The current beautiful, stone school building was built in 1929 and is currently serving over 200 students from the community, as well as students from all over Hamilton County, TN through the HCDE School Choice Enrollment lottery. LMES creates a learning environment which allows all students to achieve success by providing them with research-based instruction in the the areas of scholarship, leadership, citizenship and integrity. LMES works collaboratively to provide a safe and nurturing environment whereby students can grow into educated, productive, and honorable citizens of the 21st century.

LMES has been a Tennessee Reward School every year since the inception of the award in 2011 for academic achievement with TCAP scores among the top 5% statewide.Classroom instruction is supplemented with a related arts curriculum that includes Music, Library, Art, and Physical Education. Every student also receives instruction in the Science Lab each week with curriculum that ties in with STEM. The very active LMES PTA provides much needed financial and volunteer support which attributes to the ability to serve students with enrichment through related arts.

Our teachers and staff work diligently to reach all students each and every day. Covid has affected learning for two years, and our teachers successfully worked with students to practice social skills and increase academic achievement during the 2021-2022 school year as reflected in our TCAP achievement scores. LMES teachers work collaboratively every day to reach all of our students and strive for all students to reach their potential.
