Since 1966, Mitchell Road Elementary School has thrived on the philosophy that relationships matter. Located in the middle of the 44th largest school district in the nation, Mitchell Road prides itself in representing the various communities in Greenville, South Carolina. An important component of our school culture is that we serve a wide variety of nationalities. Mitchell Road strives to make all students feel valued by establishing long-lasting partnerships with students, families and the community. In 2019, Mitchell Road became a Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH) school. The motto of CKH is "If you have a child's heart, you have a child's mind." This guides everything we do at Mitchell Road.
Our continued focus and understanding of each child's developmental needs enables us to build strong partnerships with students and families, resulting in higher academic growth and success. Our community partners assist families with services such as weekly food bags, fresh produce from our school garden, a clothing pantry, and school supplies. In the classroom, teachers create family-like learning communities with daily morning meetings, student affirmations, class leadership roles, and team building activities. In addition, engaging, interactive lessons are strategically planned to strengthen students' ability to master curriculum standards, think critically, and collaborate with others. On-going data analysis and professional development enables teachers to provide high quality instruction and learning opportunities.
Through intentional relationship building, rigorous academics, real-world applications and a true passion for teaching and learning, Mitchell Road Elementary prepares all students for success at school and beyond.
