Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science (FMSMS) is a pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade rural school located at the heart of Fairfield County in Winnsboro, South Carolina. We believe every child can learn and receive the highest quality education to prepare them to be thriving individuals in a global world.
We are guided by our school vision, "Opening Minds through Academics and the Arts," to prepare students for life beyond the classroom. We utilize research-based techniques and practices to meet all students' curriculum and instructional needs. FMSMS prides itself on being a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) school where students use technology, make real-life applications, think critically, and be more active and engaged in their learning.
FMSMS students experience other curriculums outside the general classroom, such as Spanish, Dance, Music, Art, Band, and Physical Education; they have opportunities to join the honors chorus, dance team, honors art club, band, orchestra, and drumline. Monthly Club Day enables students to enhance other curriculum areas and allows them to explore hobbies, pick up new interests, make friends over shared passions, and develop leadership skills.
We foster relationships with parents, family members, and the community to help maximize student learning and achievement by partnering with several businesses in our community, such as the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department and Fairfield County Behavioral Health, that help us support our vision. They have provided us with resources and time to ensure our students receive a high-quality education.
