As a part of Perry Local Schools, our motto is "Everything Humanly Possible." This is what we strive for at Watson Elementary. Through meaningful professional development, staff has really dived into learning about poverty and social class norms. Staff has worked towards becoming a Trauma-Informed school and dedicate time to build relationships with students. Watson works to ensure that basic needs are met so that a student can ultimately reach their fullest potential academically.
Over the last 5 years, Watson Elementary said good-bye to the behavior ladder and introduced Restorative Practices to staff, students and families. Our PBIS team meets throughout the year to support staff and students by using data-driven decisions that will assist in either providing accomodations that will positively impact the student, assist the teacher in providing appropriate tools, or both. Relationship Mapping is an important part of our climate because it ensures that every child at Watson leaves with at least one trusting adult.
Using data-driven decisions, Watson has partnered with local universities to provide specific interventions based on the Science of Reading. We work hard to collaborate with community organizations in order to provide our families with needed items such as school supplies, clothing and food. Watson encourages family involvement by sponsoring fun family events throughout the year, such as a Halloween Glow Night and Janauary Bingo Night. When we put this all together, Watson is working to make "Everything Humanly Possible" to ensure our students find success.
