Nestled in the hills of Tuscarawas County, Ohio - Port Washington Elementary is a rural K-5 building that truly works as a team in order to personalize a rigorous standards-based learning experience for all students. Our community is very supportive of our students and staff, which helps maintain our family atmosphere. Everything we do is driven by how it helps our students - academically and emotionally.

Academically, our focus is to ensure that our students meet or exceed their growth targets, as evidenced by the NWEA MAP assessment. Our teachers understand that each student in the classroom is at a different level academically, therefore, it is critical we personalize our instruction to help each child reach his/her full potential. The weekly professional learning team meetings allow staff members to learn, collaborate, and plan this continuous effort in meeting every student's needs. They are a vital component to our academic success.

Our social and emotional programming is just as vital as our academic focus. We use the Second Step program as a resource for each classroom's weekly SEL lesson. Our PBIS program complements our SEL program and is designed to teach and recognize the positive behaviors we expect from our students. Port Washington Elementary is a fantastic place to learn and grow - not only for students but for the staff as well.
