Hillside Elementary School is committed to doing what is best for kids every day. With a focus on meeting each child's individual needs, we differentiate instruction using a student-centered learning model. Staff members work collaboratively to reinforce our core values of respect, courage, and curiosity celebrating the uniqueness of our students and school community.

Hillside School prides itself on being an inclusive, supportive, student-centered learning community. We strive to build meaningful relationships that enhance the educational experience and promote our core values of Respect, Courage, and Curiosity in all that we do.

We work collaboratively to enhance all stakeholders' understanding of diversity, and celebrate the uniqueness of our students, staff, and community. We have thoughtfully crafted our curriculum to embed race and culture, gender equity, and learning differences, helping our students build empathy as school community members. Recognizing the importance of supporting adult learning, we also provide professional learning experiences and parent evening workshops.

Hillside has fostered a balanced literacy approach to learning. Our talented staff developed standards-based curricular units to be both horizontally and vertically aligned, creating cohesion for our students. In our print-rich learning environment, students read widely and write frequently. We honor their successes through celebrations, inviting an audience with whom students can share their favorite work.

Building from each child's strengths, we work together to support our students' varied learning needs. Our MTSS team reviews student data and plans necessary academic, social-emotional, and behavioral interventions to help each student meet their full potential.

Recognizing that all students benefit from an enhanced learning experience, we provide enrichment for all through our K-4 STEAM classroom. Students engage in hands-on, collaborative, student-directed learning, where they think critically, demonstrate flexibility, and build perseverance. Students benefit from outdoor learning through our Hillside garden and robust nature walk program in the adjacent Hillside Woods.
