Chango is a community school serving students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. The school is supported by the community with an active Parent Teacher Association aimed at adding to the opportunities for students and enhancing the students' experiences. Although COVID impacted the world, Chango Elementary in the Shenendehowa Central School District continued to provide quality educational opportunities, maintaining daily in person school experience for our elementary students.Teachers are committed to providing student voice and choice in their daily instruction. The school has an emphasis on social emotional learning and incorporating practices which are cognizant of equity, diversity, and inclusivity. The community, families, and students are encouraged to share in creating opportunities for students and welcomed into our building to contribute to those experiences. Students are provided enrichment opportunities in math, STEM, and the arts.

Chango is committed to using data to provide differentiated opportunities, so that students at every level are challenged to achieve. These practices focus on our neediest students to students who require enrichment opportunities. This practice helps to ensure that all students from all abilities are being remediated and challenged appropriately. The school supports 1:1 devices for students in grades 2-5 and tablets for students in Kindergarten and grade 1, which has enabled us to provide more 21st century learning opportunities for students in school and at home. Chango faculty and staff care about all students. We are a family and all entering the Chango doors are treated as such.
