Roosevelt Elementary, a Title I School of 126 students, in Bismarck, North Dakota strives to create an engaging, trusting, and nurturing community where all learners feel safe and accepted. We believe authentic and natural learning occurs in this type of environment, promoting academic, social, and emotional growth. In order to promote a Sense of Belonging for all, we develop relationships with all students and staff through our community building activities. These include weekly cabin meetings and monthly Roughrider Rallies to celebrate success.
Through our Multi-tiered Systems of Support and Professional Learning Communities, we use data to make decisions on core instruction as well as intervention and enrichment. We utilize effective teaching strategies based on our agreed upon Instructional Framework which also builds our collective efficacy. We, as a staff, are deeply committed to collaboration and communication in order to support all learners.
The investment of our parents is also an important part of the close community feel. Our PTO is supportive by providing funds for classroom wish lists as well as hosting community events that are well attended. Events such as the Party on the Playground gives all families an opportunity to meet and greet one another as the school year gets underway. This partnership is invaluable in order to fulfill our mission. Together, we will empower all learners to thrive, at Roosevelt Elementary.
