Grand Prairie Elementary School - Washington, LA
Our proud, respectful, responsible Grand Prairie Panthers!
Set in the rural community of Grand Prairie, just outside of Washington, Louisiana, Grand Prairie Elementary is a small, country school that continues to thrive thanks to a strong sense of community and a positive school culture. The school and its buildings are full of rich history that provides a sense of pride in the Grand Prairie community.Once a high school, the school presently serves about 250 elementary students in grades Pre-K through 4th. Built in the early 1900's, the building still boasts beautiful, original wood floors throughout both stories and antique transom windows above each classroom door.
Grand Prairie Elementary has a history of being one of the top performing schools in our district each year. We are fortunate to work within a school district that values and invests in curriculum and technology. We are able to incorporate valuable web-based curriculums and supplemental resources to help meet state standards and to bridge any learning gaps. These resources especially helped us to make up for the learning loss brought about by the COVID pandemic of 2020. In the past 2 years, we have also incorporated opportunities for students to learn about robotics, visual arts, music, and the Cajun French culture and language.
Our school culture of pride, respect, and positivity makes Grand Prairie Elementary a place that parents feel proud to send their children. We work hard to equip our young people with the skills and mindset to thrive and then take on the world.
