Myrtle Place Elementary School is a French Immersion school located in Lafayette, Louisiana in the heart of a region that is known as "Acadiana." Our school reflects the multicultural and family-oriented values of the Cajun region. Our faculty and staff are highly diversified. Some are local native French speakers and some are from global French-speaking countries. Our mission goes far beyond teaching core curricula. We also focus on different variations of the French language and dialect while staying true to our local roots. Louisiana folklore is part of who we are and we promote it through the arts. We also insist on offering equitable education while promoting acceptance, diversity, respect, and love.

In order to provide equitable education for all students, our leadership team and teachers work together to build a strong program during and after school hours. Students who are not there yet are offered regular and consistent quality tutoring sessions. Students who are above level are always offered opportunities for further enrichment where they are able to grow through special activities like coding and robotics.

Our parents are our best supporters. French is the first language spoken on our campus. Our parents expect it. Teachers deliver it. Our students learn our curriculum in French and then transfer the knowledge to English to take standardized state tests. It works! They learn to be better listeners because immersion demands it. Learning a new language is the greatest gift we can give our children.
