Cairo Elementary is a small, rural school located in Henderson, Kentucky. We create a nurturing environment where we are dedicated to ensuring all students succeed.Parents and families are valued as important partners in their child's education, and we believe that genuine relationships are the foundation of all we do. In Henderson County, we have a highly supportive community who strives to ensure no need goes unmet for our students, staff, and families. We have a positive school climate, set high academic expectations for students, and focus on character education. We strive to develop leaders in our school who will be equipped with skills necessary to be community leaders. We are all working toward common goals for student achievement. These goals are intentionally set, tracked, and communicated in all that we do. Our teachers work as a collaborative team in our Professional Learning Communities to analyze student assessment data and plan for next steps in instruction.
During the pandemic we faced unique challenges, but we let nothing break our focus from striving to reach our school-wide goals. Students, staff, and families intentionally worked together to ensure that students continued to learn at high levels. Students in kindergarten through 5th grade were equipped with Chromebooks and teachers taught live via Google Meets every day when we were not able to provide in-person instruction. We kept the rigor strong despite the challenges in delivering instruction during the pandemic. At Cairo Elementary, we are a collaborative team that takes ownership for the learning of all students every day.
