Central Elementary School is a small but mighty school in downtown Valparaiso, Indiana. It is home to approximately 130 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. For the past few years, Central has been intentional in building a positive school climate and family atmosphere where students look forward to coming to school each day, and feel comfortable making mistakes. Students are engaged in their learning, and, ultimately, know everyone at Central is their biggest supporter. We are not a building of individual teachers, rather a team of teachers and staff members, working together, who are dedicated to meeting the needs of students and are invested in the growth and success of all.

Central Elementary focuses on the whole child by implementing weekly social-emotional learning lessons with our counselor Activities may include visiting Central's therapy dog; inviting targeted students to before and after school tutoring; giving students access to our sensory path, sensory room. and calming corners; inviting students to a before school yoga program; communicating frequently with families; and, promoting a variety of extracurricular activities. This is all while holding high behavioral and academic expectations. Students at Central are expected to show PRIDE (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Empathy). They are recognized daily for displaying these qualities. Central's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and community supports our vision and works hand in hand with our school to provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for our students. Central is small in size but mighty in our lasting impact on our students and community.
