Highlands Elementary, which is known as a whale of a school, was founded in 1957. Highlands sits close to the heart of downtown Naperville, Illinois, and consists of 510 students which we refer to as Highlands Heroes. Our learning community is dedicated to excellence through active commitment by all to ensure all learners grow and reach their full potential. With our dedicated staff and large active parent organization, we focus on the whole child using an all in approach.
Highlands continues to thrive academically and socially emotionally partly due to our highly active Home and School Parent Organization. Their commitment to our student's growth and achievement is unmatched. Their efforts in providing programming that is aligned to our School Improvement Plan allows us to foster student's unique interests beyond the classroom. Despite the many challenges that the pandemic has brought, Highlands continues to thrive both academically and socially-emotionally. This time consisted of out of the box thinking that allowed us to think critically and creatively in order to meet the diverse needs of our students. We supported our students' social emotional growth with check-ins from various members on our staff as well as fostering our natural love of inquiry and creation through various technological platforms.Highlands Elementary is a school that has high academic achievement but also focuses on the whole child.
