Elmwood students engaged in STEM learning.

Our belief at Elmwood Elementary is You Belong. This inclusive approach is the foundation for academic and social-emotional growth throughout our school community. Over the past three years, our school has evolved to meet the changing needs of students using rigorous, equity-based instruction. We are proud to have made a difference in the life of each Elmwood student.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, our school cultivated a deep understanding of essential standards through our Professional Learning Communities and staff-led committees. Identifying essential standards and designing high quality instruction led to a profound impact on student academic performance. As a result, Elmwood students are well prepared to be critical thinkers and collaborative workers. During the 2020-2021 school year, these core values continued through virtual learning and hybrid instruction. Elmwood provided our families and students with resources to sustain or exceed grade level standards. We used all building specialists to co-teach, provide individualized assistance, and create a sense of belonging to ensure individual educational needs were addressed.

Elmwood staff partnered with families and stakeholders to create a welcoming environment for all. Students and staff personify our shared belief of You Belong through our equity practices. Our staff established tone and trust while addressing inequities head on. Our equity based instruction creates a climate for students to flourish in academic and social emotional learning. Students are seen, valued, and celebrated on a daily basis. The Elmwood community's dedication to educational growth will continue to generate a culture of excellence and belonging.
