Brook Forest Elementary School is a place that is inviting and welcoming to everyone. This school year, the school theme is Cruising into Learning. This theme was selected to enhance goal setting and growth in academics. Above all, the cruise theme was selected to foster an environment that identifies relationship building as the primary focus. The learning day is comprehensive and provides accelerated and enrichment opportunities across subject areas. The teachers utilize an instructional framework that provides both whole and small group learning. This allows teachers to apply strategies and offer flexible learning activities to all students in a personalized approach. In addition to students having access to social-emotional learning lessons during morning announcements and guidance, the specialist teachers plan with all faculty to implement the Heart Healthy Platform during the school year. The topics include stress management, teamwork, movement, goal setting, nutrition, mind and body, and kindness. The students are encouraged to participate in morning and afternoon activities that are sponsored by the faculty and the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to further individualized learning opportunities. Brook Forest is fortunate to have the ongoing support of parents and community members. During the year, grade levels host events for parents and members of the community to visit. The students, faculty, and community are excited for the 2022-2023 school year to strengthen relationships while creating challenging and attainable goals.
