NBRS Badge for Nu'uanu Elementary School

Nu'uanu Elementary School - Honolulu, HI

Aloha, Welcome to Nu

Aloha, Welcome to Nu'uanu Elementary School!

When you enter our beautiful campus, you enter a setting of pride, belonging and learning. This is our fourth recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School and we are honored. The journey here was made possible through the actions of many people.

Our Ohana (family) reaches back to 1960 when Nu'uanu Elementary first welcomed children. Now, 62 years later, our alumni include medical and legal professionals, athletes, business people and many other outstanding community members.

Although students arrive from many different backgrounds, they are soon acclimated into the culture of our school where being safe, responsible, and respectful of each other is a common expectation. Academics reflect a curriculum that is rigorous and relevant to becoming successful and productive in the outside world. There is a wide array of engaging opportunities for students. Project based learning begins with our school-wide STEM classes, and environmental programs such as the Garden Club and 'AINA In Schools. Student Council and Robotics classes are held weekly for interested students. Parents enroll children in afterschool programs from private vendors such as Art, Ukulele, Karate, Soccer, and Hip Hop.

We appreciate our parent organization, 'Aikane o Nu'uanu, for their unconditional support to the education of children and in fostering relationships since 1975. Events include our annual Family Fun Night, Movie Nights, AC installations, 5th grade graduation, and technology upgrades. 'Aikane's far-reaching diversity and creative imagination has been a much needed anchor for our school.

We are forever grateful to all that have been part of Nu'uanu School!
