Kings Chapel Elementary is often referred to as the "best kept secret in Houston County." This is due, in part, to our school being relatively small and situated in a rural, sparsely populated corner of the county. More importantly, since 1964 the culture of Kings Chapel has become one of friendliness, inclusivity, and excellence. It is the people that make a place special, and our elementary school is lucky to have attracted the most talented and dedicated professionals anywhere.
Most recently, our school has grown into a thriving Professional Learning Community where teachers work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for their students. The most impactful collaborative practice of our teachers is their participation in Data Teams. In these teams, teachers review the results of their Common Formative Assessments to pinpoint opportunities for each student's growth. They work together to develop lessons and take shared responsibility for student learning. Additionally, the staff of Kings Chapel recently began a "reading first" approach to instruction, prioritizing literacy and laying the foundation for all student learning. A reading culture and a love of books is a result of this emphasis, and achievement measures show the direct impact on student learning.
As our population increases and students continue to succeed, Kings Chapel cannot be called a secret anymore!
