Building the foundation for a tribe of lifelong learners!

Building the foundation for a tribe of lifelong learners!

Armuchee Primary School, formerly Glenwood Primary, proudly continues a tradition of excellence that began over 70 years ago. Located in the northernmost part of Floyd County, Armuchee is a close-knit community that takes pride in its schools. Armuchee Primary is a PreK-2 school with an enrollment of nearly 500 students.

Armuchee Primary's faculty believes that building relationships and a sense of community among students and staff is an important first step in establishing a foundation for academic success. Upon entering the school building, each student is greeted by name by staff members. As a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school, Armuchee Primary seeks ways to model appropriate behaviors to support students in building relationships.

In 2018, Armuchee Primary implemented a schoolwide enrichment model to reach three essential goals: to build schoolwide community, to provide a broad range of experiences, and to offer opportunities based on students' strengths and interests. Faculty, staff, and community members choose a topic that they are passionate about to share with students. Topics have included coding, baking, calligraphy, photography, ballroom dancing, woodworking, and many more. Students look forward to these experiences each month, but more importantly, they have developed relationships with teachers and students from different grade levels that they may not have known otherwise. Students who have struggled in other areas of school have felt a sense of accomplishment that has transferred into the classroom. This has become an integral part of building the foundation for a tribe of lifelong learners at Armuchee Primary School.
