NBRS Badge for Rota Elementary School

Rota Elementary School - FPO Spain, DD

Sevillana Club

Sevillana Club

Rota Elementary School, located in sunny Southern Spain, prides itself on creating a student-centered learning environment and supporting the military-connected child. Our school, also known as DGF Elementary, is named in honor of David Glasgow Farragut (DGF), the first rear admiral, vice admiral, and full admiral of the United States Navy. The acronym DGF serves as a moniker for "Developing Great Futures," a phrase fully embraced and often repeated throughout the school day.

Staff members strive to help students feel welcomed and part of our community so that learning can occur. Structures are in place to quickly integrate arriving children, starting with a traditional bell ringing ceremony. Opportunities follow throughout the year to participate in popular activities, such as Lego Robotics and Sevillana Club.Sensitive to the unique challenges of military life, counseling and peer group resources are also available to assist students.

Teachers work collaboratively to develop strategies that engage our students and create equitable learning experiences. Each school day allows for structured and unstructured opportunities to discuss student learning, assessments, and pedagogy. Along with their well-being, academic performance is tracked, and available resources are strategically used to address student needs.

These efforts, and tremendous support from parents and Naval Command, drive our success. Their participation in school events and operations allows us to create a school environment that mimics the best educational programs stateside, while enjoying the rich culture of our host nation.
