The mission of Whiting Lane School, as a diverse community enriched by the Early Learning Center and special needs programs, is to ensure that all students acquire the academic, physical, social, and emotional foundations necessary to become respectful, responsible citizens and lifelong learners. While forging a strong home, school, and community collaboration, we will promote academic excellence, build critical thinking skills, inspire creativity, and value the unique potential of every child.

Whiting Lane Elementary School is a public school in suburban West Hartford, Connecticut that serves a diverse population of students in grades PreK through fifth. Each morning we proudly recite our school code which states, "Whiting Lane Citizens are respectful and responsible, make good choices, and we always take care of each other." We are an incredible school community that works in close collaboration with our families to provide the best possible learning environment for our students. Our highly dedicated faculty and staff strive daily to ensure each child fulfills their academic, social, and emotional potential.

We regularly engage in data-driven planning sessions to inform instruction, setting individualized goals to maximize literacy and math skills. We have an inclusive learning community where teachers utilize current best practices in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment as part of a strategic and differentiated approach to academic success for all.We provide numerous authentic, hands-on learning experiences for students to apply critical thinking skills and solve real-life problems through collaborative conversations and inquiry-based learning. Our students benefit from unique enrichment opportunities in the arts, science, and music fields. We promote student leadership and personal growth and development within a safe and caring atmosphere. As a school we are committed to our SEL curriculum (Social-Emotional Learning) and we focus on instilling the character traits of kindness, acceptance, integrity, and empathy.
