NBRS Badge for Arma J. Shull Elementary School

Arma J. Shull Elementary School - San Dimas, CA

Shull Front Office

Shull Front Office

Shull Elementary has high expectations of its students and community helpers, believing all students can grow and achieve their full potential. This comes from a dedicated staff of people willing to reflect on current practices and make necessary changes based on student data. The greatest strength of our school is the collaboration of the teachers within the grade levels, which sometimes includes intervention teachers and educational specialists. During the time of Covid, our parents weren't able to volunteer. We mitigated this loss of support by hiring additional paraeducators, providing after-school tutoring support given by teachers, and online parent training from interventionists on how to best support their students at home.

The focus on reading and comprehension is the cornerstone of our curriculum, as all subjects rely on this ability. The fostering of reading at school and at home has thrust us forward in our achievement of high test scores. Our outstanding PTA helps to support our students with additional funds for supplemental materials for the classroom. They also hold events during and after-school such as family movie nights and seasonal festivals. Shull has a balanced focus on education. We have a student council, track team, band, choir, drama, and art program. There is something for everyone! We have one-to-one Chromebooks for students that are utilized both at school and at home to support our curriculum, engaging students with technology and guiding them to their future.
