Grade 4 squid dissection.

At Newton Elementary School, students receive an outstanding education thanks to the caring culture built within the school walls. Over the past several years a strong emphasis has been placed on the development of collegial relationships amongst the staff. Teachers are viewed as experts and supported by administration with beneficial professional development and the freedom to do what they have been called to do. The school maintains a disciplined environment that cultivates strong student character traits. These traits form a solid foundation for academic growth. Students encourage one another and lift each each other up. Staff members are strategically placed each morning to ensure that all students entering the school are warmly greeted. Students know the adults in the building love them and are their biggest advocates.

Newton has enjoyed steady growth in state school report card scores, scoring at proficiency levels of 83, 91, and 92 over the past three scoring periods. According to most recent state assessment data, the school expects the upcoming report card score to continue this upward trend. In addition to the school's culture, another strong asset is the belief that a meaningful partnership with parents produces an effective learning environment. Student development and progress is communicated regularly with parents in order to ensure that everyone is working together for the good of the student. Newton Elementary is more than an academic center; it is a place where the whole child is served.
