Westview Elementary is located in Platteville, Wisconsin, a small university town in the southwest corner of the state. Students in grades 1-4 are welcomed each day by staff who put students first, developing strong caring relationships while still holding all students to high expectations for learning. Positive relationships and good citizenship are taught and reinforced through our Bucket Filling celebrations and PBIS structure throughout our school.
Student success is directly linked to the dedication of both professional and support staff. Collaborating together to meet the individual needs of every student is the number one priority. Grounded in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) framework, staff work together to identify learning outcomes, analyze data to determine areas of student needs, and provide on-going opportunities for students to demonstrate learning through tiered levels of support. None of this is possible without the support and relationships formed with families.
One thing that makes Westview stand out and contributes to the academic success of students is the district's commitment to providing students with learning opportunities that extend beyond the core curriculum. Students participate in Physical Education everyday and Art and Music every other day. Enrichment events throughout the school year, like Global Play Day, Opera for the Young, and Field Day, extend these opportunities. Enrichment opportunities in the community and a strong partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville help to enhance instruction with our Westview classrooms.
