South Texas ISD Rising Scholars Academy - San Benito, TX

Established in 2015, South Texas ISD Rising Scholars Academy (RSA) has accomplished much during the short period of its existence. RSA maintains an exemplary reputation for academic excellence, positive school culture, and an investment geared towards nurturing the whole child. Uniting students from three counties begins with creating a positive school culture with a shared vision, mission, and core values. Additionally, RSA provides opportunities for acceleration, intervention, mentoring, and enrichment so that students can fulfill their full academic and personal potential.

Professional Learning Communities (PLC) play a foundational role for teachers to build a community of successful learners. Weekly team and department meetings provide teachers with the time to collaborate and address students of concern, share best teaching practices, and align curriculum goals. Success of PLCs rests on collective responsibility of each member. With a supportive administration, PLCs provide the opportunity for teachers to take ownership and adjust instructional practices and systems of support based on the best interest of students.

Scholars explore either a health or engineering pathway and can earn up to eight high school credits. Because of the rigor, teachers integrate a variety of tools and technology applications to support learning and provide an equitable education for students. Whether it's through flipped classrooms, gamification, video responses, or the consistent integration of common software applications, student engagement is a key component to the school's success.
