Learners today and Leaders Tomorrow

"Learners today and Leaders Tomorrow"

Zeferino Farias Elementary is part of the Pharr San Juan Alamo Independent School district. We are located in Alamo, Texas approximately fifteen miles from the Texas-Mexico border. We serve prekindergarten three- and four-year-olds to fifth grade. We serve approximately 520 students.

Despite the challenges, students may face in their households, Zeferino Farias Elementary students continue to be successful in their academics. We offer a high-quality instructional program that includes committed school personnel, the community, and parents working together to provide a current curriculum and to meet every child's needs to prepare them to be 21st-century lifelong learners. Our motto at Zeferino Farias Elementary is, "Learners today and Leaders Tomorrow." We believe that learning is an ongoing, fun, and challenging life-long process that should take place in a warm, suitable environment.

Teachers and the staff strives for all students to grow academically and build intrinsic motivation by working with students to set goals and mastery levels based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The key component to our success is teachers and students work together to achieve personal, classroom, and campus goals. The use of data disaggregation is vital to achieving student personal goals. Students are responsible for their data binders where they keep track of their individual goals. We always celebrate accomplishments, no matter how big or how small they are; it's the success that we celebrate. During the pandemic, it was a challenge to sustain data tracking, but teachers continued data profile sheets through our virtual platform.
