Lamar Elementary School is in the El Paso Independent School District located in the western most metropolitan city in Texas. Lamar has been recognized twice by The Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. Lamar also was recognized in 2019 with a Texas Gold Ribbon Award from Texas School Guide with an A+ rating serving a diverse community of multi-lingual and multicultural students and families, many of which are economically disadvantaged. In 2020, The Texas School Guide ranked Lamar #1 "Consistent Gold Ribbon Elementary School" in El Paso. Earning distinction for outstanding performance, academic growth, and closing the gaps, is indicative of the rigor, vitality, and distinction of a faculty and administration driven toward higher levels of excellence.

Teachers have made significant advancements targeting student growth using curriculum that combines rigor and Social Emotional Learning. Lamar Elementary's approach minimizes curricular and cultural barriers and maximizes learning by integrating relevant opportunities for every student. Teachers incorporate innovative initiatives targeting student growth for the Gifted and Talented population and students with challenges. Our beliefs are in building strong teacher-student relationships as a cornerstone to individual growth and academic success for our students.

Another foundation for the success of our students is family and community engagement. While the pandemic reduced the opportunities in the past year, we continue to reach out to parents by inviting them to literacy and STEM events throughout the year. This positive and inclusive climate at Lamar Elementary promotes a powerful sense of belonging for parents, students, and staff.
