NBRS Badge for Sam Houston Elementary School
Sam Houston Elementary School - Maryville, TN
Our annual Smokie Strut Fundraiser brings our community together.
Sam Houston Elementary's (SHE) success can be summarized using the famous proverb, "it takes a village to raise a child." The term "village" at Sam Houston encompasses, the students, teachers, parents and district. All of these parties work together to make SHE the special school it is!
The students at SHE are from all walks of life, but all of them can't wait to enter the doors of Sam Houston. The teachers at SHE love their students deeply and refuse to allow any student's social emotional needs to go unmet.
Every staff member realizes that students can't meet their high academic standards without love and support. Sam Houston has laid the foundation through their comprehensive counseling program. This program has allowed the school to meet the students' social emotional needs, so they could do the important work over the last few years in deconstruction of standards and adoption of additional research based literacy practices. SHE's early 1-to-1 adoption and extensive plans over the last year have allowed for them to continue to raise the rigor level in the classroom, even during a pandemic.
Sam Houston staff members work hard to build strong partnerships with parents embracing all backgrounds, and these strong partnerships lead to better academic support at home. Sam Houston hires the most talented staff members around and provides their teachers with the autonomy that they dream of, which creates a growth minded culture that makes Sam Houston "The Best Place To Learn And Grow!"
