At Ashton Elementary School, there is a great sense of community where students, families, and faculty are part of the "Ashton Family." Ashton School prides itself on fostering a caring and collaborative learning environment. There are positive and nurturing relationships between students and teachers, a strong partnership between parents and educators, and ongoing collaboration among staff. As a professional learning community, teachers meet frequently to discuss student growth, share lessons and curriculum practices. Professional development is targeted on developing the curriculum to advance student growth and meet the Core Standards. High expectations for student achievement and growth are at the forefront of everything we do to ensure each student reaches their potential.

The practices that contribute to the vast success of learners are our school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) procedures. Our Universal PBIS team is responsible for establishing and maintaining routines and expectations to ensure a safe and positive school environment. Grade-level and individual student performance is also monitored and supported through the MTSS team that meets regularly to ensure students are receiving the targeted interventions they need to be successful (academically and social/emotional/behaviorally). Both the PBIS and MTSS teams rely on input and collaboration from teachers, support staff, and parents as well as, at times, students themselves. Student involvement allows children to play an active role in goal-setting, working towards achieving an individualized goal.

The faculty is committed to creating a positive learning community for all students. We firmly believe that the dedication we show to our students and families, along with the ongoing collaboration between staff members, has created a sense of love and community within our "Ashton Family." The sign above the doors at Ashton School reads, "Through these doors pass the greatest children in the world." Every staff member truly believes these words, and we strive each day to foster an ever-growing, accepting, and nurturing family.
