Girard students actively engaged in learning.

Girard students actively engaged in learning.

Girard Intermediate School is a city school embedded in a proud and school-spirited community. The faculty, students, and families are Girard Proud and live up to the district motto, "We are Girard. Family - taking care of each other!"

As a school system, the teachers and students take pride in their academic excellence and celebrate learning in the school. Students know that the teachers and faculty care about their social emotional well-being in addition to their academic standing.

The main priority at Girard Intermediate School is to meet the needs of all students and families. To accomplish this, teachers focus on multi-tiered systems of support and our school offers a variety of special programming within school hours and after school hours. These programs vary from STEAM, Prep Bowl, Student Council, band, gifted courses, WIN time, after school academic programs, etc. The teachers have worked hard to build relationships with families by hosting STEM and literacy family nights where students and families work together to learn and celebrate their learning. Our school partners with outside organizations like Youngstown State University, Cadence Care, and Youth Intensive Services. All these programs allow for GIS to continue to focus on strengthening academics and meeting the needs of all our students.
