Sanford H. Calhoun High School strives to empower our students to show empathy to all others, to be the best learners they can be, to find avenues of deep interest, and to show leadership in their every day lives. We have diverse opportunities for students to show their strengths and passions while also receiving the support and mentoring necessary to succeed.

There is a deep sense of service to the community and partnership with our families is central to the success of our school and district. There is a comprehensive offering of courses including Regents, Honors, College, and AP level courses. We host the district On Tour Drama Program with about 100 students from all over the district that offers students the opportunity to be fully immersed in all aspects of theater production. The district ENL program is also here at Calhoun, creating a home for students gaining proficiency in English. The district COORE (8:1) program and Prep Program (15:1) is here along with a wide array of resources for students with different abilities to prepare for life beyond high school. Courses in Art, Music, Business, Engineering, and World Language are very popular with students adding in diverse ways to the the basics in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. The extra/co-curricular opportunities are vast, along with numerous, successful, championship winning athletic teams. The pandemic did not stop these offerings. It might have amended them, but we were able to continue to have these opportunities for our students. #ColtStrong
