Interactive learning increases student engagement

Della Davidson Elementary School (DDES) is the 3rd and 4th grade school in the Oxford School District in Oxford, MS. DDES has a culture and community built around student achievement and growth. DDES implements the innovative practice of standards-based learning. Students set individual goals and are able to track their own progress over time as they work towards standards mastery. Students are involved in the learning process from the beginning stage of unpacking a standard to the end goal of being able to describe what is required for standards mastery.

DDES serves a diverse population and strives to meet the needs of all learners through focused and targeted instructional practices and student engagement strategies. Remediation and enrichment are specifically built into the instructional model to ensure all students grow. DDES strives to meet the academic needs of students but our overall focus is to ensure our students are college, career, and life ready. The Oxford School District Portrait of a Graduate describes our goals at DDES as we strive to push our students to be effective communicators, culturally aware, ethical citizens, critical and creative thinkers, resilient, and personally responsible.
