Student engagement in math class
Skyline Middle School, part of Hickory County R-1 Schools, is located in rural Southwest Missouri. The school system came into existence in 1958 when the four small towns of Preston, Urbana, Cross Timbers, and Tunas consolidated their four schools. Our current middle school houses grades five through eight and has a total enrollment of 231 students.
The Hickory County R-1 School system has a long history of excellence and community support. The teachers of the district focus on collaboration across grades and a team attitude where successes are shared. The district has aligned its curriculum to the Missouri Learning Standards and focuses on student results and achievements. Teachers across grade levels use a variety of assessments to drive student achievement and make an effort to individualize instruction and use various interventions to meet the changing needs of students.
Skyline Middle School has always possessed an unwavering focus on student learning and achievement that is only made easier by the support of the community. The success of the school can easily be attributed to a supportive community, talented teachers, and groups of students that strive to learn and achieve. The staff are always looking at professional development opportunities to better themselves and the school learning environment.
