Lakeshore Elementary is unique, diverse, and a true cross-section of our community. Throughout our history, the diversity of Lakeshore, as well as the programming we offer and families we serve, has helped create the rich traditions we now enjoy. Lakeshore has earned the reputation of being a "special place". People, young and old, feel calm and safe here and it shows in our students' success. It is hard to express, but Lakeshore truly has a unique feel.
Lakeshore is one of eight elementary schools in West Ottawa Public Schools and is proud to offer the district Spanish Immersion program, a preschool, and a daycare. We are a three-section building nestled in the woods, just over a dune to Lake Michigan. When you walk through our doors you will be greeted by our incredibly friendly people.
Our staff is creative, diverse and energetic, and certainly our greatest strength. Teams work together to create learning communities that center their craft around best practice techniques, data collection, and student-focused instruction. The Lakeshore motto is to do everything in the best interest of kids, and our teachers do so selflessly. Teachers push their students to succeed academically, but push them even harder to succeed personally. Our students thrive because of the love our teachers pour into them. Each classroom is a lively, nurturing environment of love, care, high expectations, and even higher support.
As a former recipient of the Blue Ribbon Award (2014), Lakeshore Elementary is extremely proud to have earned this honor again.
