Northfield Elementary School is a small school of approximately 200 students situated in a tight-knit community in Western Massachusetts. We are grateful for strong community involvement, a dedicated staff, and curious students who are eager to learn and contribute to their school community. Many of our staff live in Northfield or Warwick, the two towns that Northfield Elementary School serves. This home-workplace connection increases the investment of the staff in their school community. We are a special place that many call home. To promote a sense of community, monthly All School Meetings are held, which provide opportunities to recognize and celebrate student learning. Our 6th graders lead these meetings, gaining leadership skills and confidence with public speaking. Students get the message that they matter and they belong. The positivity modeled by staff at NES is reflected in the feedback of families and the happiness of the students. It is our intention to work closely with children and caregivers in order to ensure that all students achieve their personal best. We strive to engage and motivate our students within a positive environment throughout the school day. Using the Responsive Classroom model ensures that students' social and emotional needs are addressed from the moment they walk in the door. Our students engage in work that promotes independence, self-worth, and a true sense of belonging. Northfield Elementary School represents a community of adults and students who work and learn within an environment rooted in relational trust, collaboration, and the celebration of individual growth.
