Van Buren Elementary is a rural public school located in the southern hills of Brown County, Indiana. Here, students are nurtured through a variety of educational opportunities. Optional outdoor classroom space sits beside a bubbling creek, and large, green, tree-lined fields with plots of flowers and gardens invite inquiry as well as an opportunity to run and play. Students and families engage with Van Buren Elementary as the center of our township, whether through our robust parent/teacher organization, family and community gatherings, or with our local community partnerships.
While attending Van Buren, every student has the opportunity to be appropriately challenged in a variety of academic, STEM-related, and social emotional curriculums. In grades Pre-K through 5, students engage with their daily work by setting goals, monitoring their progress, and celebrating each accomplishment. Educators and leadership teams engage in continued learning in much the same way, participating in weekly opportunities for professional development that are embedded into the school day.
As we empower students and faculty to take ownership of their learning and grow together, we are fostering a Van Buren Elementary School community composed of families, students, teachers, and staff who are determined to grow, seek answers, learn from their mistakes, and help others. These traits are essential to the character of our team, and our team is devoted to building driven, engaged, and confident students who will leave Van Buren ready for their next chapter, both in and out of the classroom.
