Disney II Magnet High School is a recognized leader in personalized and competency-based learning. Since its inception, the school has developed a student-centered learning model that focuses on all aspects of student learning and success. The key lever for sustained innovative school design is shifting instructional mindsets. Disney II has done this work by focusing on providing sustained, in-depth professional development that supports personalized and competency-based learning.
As a school, we recognized that the journey to personalized learning had to be incumbent on developing and sustaining teacher practices. All too often we rely on students to shift achievement data and at Disney II we have changed this narrative. We feel developing rigorous instructional practices will result in far greater and sustainable student achievement.
