For some "Whatever it Takes" is a saying, for Westmont it is our way of life. We built our school on the commitment that every student is sacred. We focus on what we can do versus what is out of our control. If students are not learning, then we come together and provide whatever students need to help them achieve. Our mission is not to teach students, but to ensure all students learn. We want our students to: Be compassionate. Work hard. Dream big.

Westmont High School (IL) is the most improved and one of the top performing high schools in the nation. Westmont's focus is on supporting students to become compassionate and thoughtful citizens who make positive contributions for all people. Our love and respect for students drives our passionate commitment and has garnered incredible results. These results include: a true 99% graduation rate with every African-American and Latino student graduating on time; the most improved and top-performing AP program as outlined by Washington Post/Jay Mathews Challenge Index and U.S. News and World Report; an Exemplary rating (the highest rating) from the ISBE three years in a row; and a 10 out of 10 rating on

Our incredible results are a product of the adoption and implementation of Professional Learning Communities. We truly embody the core principles of Learning for All, Collaborative Culture, and Results Orientation. We strive every day to be student-centered and focus on the growth, not the gap. We ensure that our collaboratively-built and passionately-agreed-to vision is at the heart and soul of our practice. Moreover, Westmont High School is the epitome of Collective Teacher Efficacy. Our teacher-led collaborative data teams analyze common formative assessments and performance-data student by student by skill to drive effective interventions - which is the true difference-maker. In turn, Westmont High School won the DuFour Award (2020) as the best Professional Learning Community in the United States.

Westmont High School has the most diverse student body of any regular Illinois high school to receive the National Blue Ribbon Award in the last 20 years. We have been able to achieve this honor because Westmont is a cohesive team that is relentless about student growth, continuous improvement, and genuine celebrations.
