We celebrate joyful, rigorous, and personalized classrooms. Carson Elementary was established in 1952 honoring Mary G. Carson, who served in the Denver Public School system for forty-five years as a teacher and principal. Carson Elementary is a common meeting ground for families, as the playground bustles with activity outside of school hours, and serves as the heart of the community.
We at Carson Elementary are both a K-5 choice school and a center-based program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Hilltop neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. Our unique model of small group instruction serves to individualize instruction for all students.Through our strategic initiative of dynamic differentiation we strive to meet the needs of every student both academically and socially and emotionally. We believe in an inclusive push-in model for all services for our deaf and hard of hearing students, our gifted and talented students, individual education plans, and everything in between. We pride ourselves on being highly collaborative staff.
Finally, we embrace a whole child model of teaching which incorporates teaching character education in addition to academic and social emotional well-being. In concert with families and communities we teach character education to all of our students in service of creating a community of learners and global citizens. Our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) model focuses on three main core competencies: kindness, respect, and responsibility which is the center of all we do.
