Chinese Immersion School at DeAvila - San Francisco, CA
Enjoying A Peaceful Corner Together
Nestled in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco, the Chinese Immersion School at DeAvila Elementary School has been providing a stimulating learning environment for each student's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development for nearly 13 years. The school educates children from an asset-based learning perspective, bolstered by a unique bilingual Cantonese-English program. Students learn in a caring school environment where community circles and check-ins are part of the daily instruction and deep relationships are formed. Social emotional learning is integrated into content instruction so students learn to be active participants in their own learning, to work with others, and to fail so they can later succeed.
Our STEAM to STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts and math) curriculum enables students to immerse themselves in project-based learning to master the 4Cs: communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Students also participate in a comprehensive arts and outdoor gardening science program. Our credo is "Together We Achieve", as parents and staff work together to create a safe and loving community where students thrive, learn, and grow as individuals. We embrace diversity and strive for an equitable education for all students. We model the 4Bs: be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind to prepare our students to be the stewards of their world.
