Staff dedicate countless hours to build relationships with each student in the school, learning about their hopes, dreams, cultures, interests, and families. Students understand their own power and agency through a purposeful and shared growth mindset with their teachers.
Baker-Butler proudly serves a significant population of exceptional students with special education needs. Teachers partner with families to develop individualized education plans that focus on goals that meet curricular needs and are framed around student interests and empowerment. Teachers collaborate deeply to ensure that lessons are accessible, engaging, and appropriately challenging for all types of learners.
The community at Baker-Butler is deeply invested in the success of its learners. Through partnerships with the University of Virginia, local churches, and the PTO, students are supported before, during, and after school through a variety of tutoring, mentorship, and club programs. The culture at Baker-Butler is one of joyful purpose, where all staff and community members dedicate themselves to bettering the lives of our next generation.
