Dual language programming at Reilly is very inclusive, with all students participating in either Spanish or Mandarin in addition to English. Dual language is an additive approach that values students' language, culture, and heritage while providing equitable opportunities for developing bilingualism and biliteracy, grade level academic achievement in two languages, and multicultural competence. Reilly is the first public multilingual elementary in the central Texas area.
Implementation of dedicated Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices have created a safe and inclusive learning environment where students thrive and achieve academic success. Adults also participate in SEL, which contributes to teacher effectiveness and well-being and to authentic family engagement and support for students at home. Culturally responsive learning and awareness fits in perfectly in the Reilly learning environment where students and families from all walks of life and backgrounds pursue student achievement while valuing language, celebrating culture, and honoring heritage.
