Maude Mae Kirchner Elementary School - Quemado, TX

Maude Mae Kirchner Elementary is part of the Eagle Pass ISD, located on Hwy 277, 1.5 miles east of the Rio Grande River and 18 miles northwest of Eagle Pass in the Quemado Valley of Maverick County. It is a rural school that serves approximately 106 students who mostly come from low-socioeconomic families that embrace the value of education. Its population is that of 99% Hispanic coming from bilingual descent and 1% white. This community provides work through pecan and hay farms and a couple of rural diners. Regardless of their socioeconomic status, these families believe in our institution's educational and ethical beliefs which are commitment, discipline, collaborative and community teamwork towards a common goal, and educational excellence.

Collaborative work among our teachers and parents is the baseline in acquiring most Academic Distinction Designations in 2017-2018 and finally earning Academic Distinction Designations in all areas in ELA/ Reading, Mathematics, Science, Post-Secondary Readiness, Student Growth, and Closing the Gaps in 2019. We accomplished an accountability "A" Rating, which in turn provided us with the opportunity for a nomination of being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.

Kirchner Staff is resilient and adapts to change as we presently have in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Change within the educational setting provides us with opportunities to gain strength and knowledge through implementation of technological resources; and meet the needs of our students; as always, KIRCHNER COWBOY STRONG!!!
