Heights Elementary School is Strong, Proud, and Ready

Heights Elementary School is Strong, Proud, and Ready

For over a century, Heights Elementary School (HES) has existed as an educational institution that enriches the lives of students in the community. Located along the US Mexico border of South Texas, HES is nestled within the city of Laredo and is proudly part of the Laredo Independent School District family. Named after the neighborhood it serves, HES has been at the epicenter of expansive growth and change amongst its residents. While the social capital and faces across the neighborhood look dramatically different today than they did decades ago, the core values of the school have not wavered. HES believes in empowering every student with the educational tools necessary to succeed in every facet of life.

HES staff takes a sincere interest in the various learning initiatives offered to every student. Teachers and staff understand that every second throughout the day acts as a teachable moment for holistic learning. Aside from the rigorous and engaging curriculum in place across all grade levels, students also have access to a vast amount of extracurricular activities via the fine arts classroom, technology clubs, reading initiatives, University Interscholastic League events, sports teams, and after-school programs. Students learn about leadership and how to take ownership of their education. HES staff works cohesively to ensure student success is always taking place. Campus leadership helps focus and direct every effort with the same goal in mind. At HES, "We dream it, dare it, and do it."
