Timber Lake Middle School (TLMS) is comprised of grades 6-8 and is a rural school district in north central South Dakota. Our school offers outstanding learning opportunities for our students! We have top-notch teachers who work diligently to meet student needs with engaging experiences.
A key to our success in small student-teacher ratios. This allows us to really know our students-personally and academically. TLMS kids experience a Panther Academy period at the beginning of the day. Students are broken into small grade-level pods with an adult advocate. This is a time to build relationships and foster a sense of belonging to our school. It also serves as an opportunity for interventions and enrichment.
Technology is a strength as each student has a school-issued laptop to use as a learning tool. Google Classroom is used consistently in all classrooms as our Learning Management System.
Family support is essential to optimizing student opportunities in our school. We work hard to openly communicate with parents and guardians about their child's progress through our website, Facebook, homework calls, open houses, student-led conferences, and student success meetings. We strive to create a partnership that is most helpful to the student.
Promoting school pride and a rich culture is essential. Our principal's motto is "It's Great to be a Timber Lake Panther!" We achieve this pride by living the Panther Way: Respect Self, Respect Others, and Respect Property. We are so proud of the students, school, and community in Timber Lake!
